9x45,

See you there after Norco. BTW, was there on Friday and it was relatively dry.

Yup, Skunk & I made it to Prado for IDPA this AM. I was really pressed for time & couldn't finish. One of the local PD's were there qualifying and getting in our way :( Skunk was actively asking around for ya Beorn. All & all tho, I had fun (and isn't that 1/2 the battle?) :D

Beorn and I were there. Had a good time, I like the courses they ran and how they ran them. I had some problems with my pistol ( think its a magazine prob). As you said was fun and thats all that really matters.

Wilhelm

PS Beorn was the biggest guy there. (he usually is)

Yep, Wilhelm and I were there alright.

It was really cool. I enjoyed the stages a great deal. I'm used to only doing 4 stages, so 8 was double the fun.

The group we were in had the full gamut of shooters (and probably most of the revolver shooters). Speaking of which, they were a Japanese couple, and they kicked some serious butt with those revolvers!

I wasn't sure how to ask who was who ("excuse me, but are you Skunkabilly?"). And Wilhelm had to scoot pretty soon after shooting.

But, yeah, I was the really, really big guy in the gray vest with the black baseball cap on (I suppose I was the biggest person there Wilhelm).

I will most certainly be back. And I'm not sure how doing an indoor shoot at Oceanside this upcoming Sunday will compete now that I've been at Prado.

Look forward to seeing everyone next month (Oceanside IDPA is going to take that month off; many of them are going to the AZ match instead).:D

Yeah, good time for the most part, which is the main reason I go. I wasn't too happy we had to stop & wait for the PD guys to do their thing before we could do ours....it made for way to much down time! :scrutiny: Plus, they were for the most part irresponsible in their gun safety & handling habits.

Skunkabilly,

Why? I wish I could have made it but the match at Norco ran longer than I expected and I also started to feel a bit under the weather.

I'm more of an IPSC guy I guess. Ron and Nora's (IPSC style steel matches) are the BEST but I have other commitments on Sunday. They said I should come out after church tomorrow and shoot later (nice folks) but my tactical budget is dried up for this month.

Maybe bad experience today, I didn't really enjoy having guns pointed at me.

I'm really sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as you could have Skunkabilly.

And 10-ring, now that you mention it, the PD guys were a bit flippant in their gun handling...

I'm not sure if anyone would agree, but if'n they had been civilians, some of the things I saw them do would get them "an early lunch."

A word to all at Prado for next time... If you see a really, really big (ala SUMO sized) white guy with a moustache, goatee and kinda closely cropped hair (probably wearing a vest), ask him "are you Beorn?" It will probably be me.

You know, I think I may have bumped into you during one of the many "line breaks" we had. I was the guy in gray & black Dickies jacket, drk blue watch cap & blue ear muffs.
Maybe next time!

10-ring and I had guys on our squad shooting through hard cover at targets and no one seemed to really mind. Frustrating for the rest of us who try to play by the rules in the spirit of the game.

Not that winning is all that matters, but cheating is for gunfights, not for games.

Yeah, what was up w/ cancer man (smoked a cigar ALL DAY)? No matter how many times he asked "hard cover, right?" He still shot through it w/ no penalty.
i think I'm going back to Prado Tuesday & complaining...The more I think it over, the more upset I'm getting...Really bad form yesterday! :cuss: :fire: :banghead: :scrutiny:

10-ring did you hear when the guy spanked me to doing the walkthru with my hands up a la IPSC? :D I don't know if he was kidding or not since he knows I shoot IPSC. Old habits die hard! Oops

Shooting through hard cover didn't seem to be much of a violation though

Yeah, I didn't understand why they (the RO's) were so strict on the competitors re: procedure and allowing the LEO's to conduct themselves in such a careless manner. What's up with that? Trying to keep the yellow man down? :scrutiny:

One standard for all!

ROR Actually the ROs were the club shooters and enforce a high standard on everyone else--as they should. They don't work for the range but take their own time and make extra effort to make sure the match goes well.

I heard comments from other of the IDPA shooters on the ...ahem... unnecessarily dangerous environment that was created. Didn't stick around to see what happened.

Best way to win a gunfight (or a shooting) is to avoid being there.

Spoke w/ the guys in charge today. Told them I was really disappointed in the way the PD's total disregard for safety. Long story short, my concerns are being addressed by the owner of the facility, the RO & the peopel that run the IDPA matches. I was assured that safety will no longer be compromised.
