Leo in 27th year. NYC 135st thru 145st most of my career. Sgt for 17 yrs of those. Wifey a detective there for 13 yrs. Both retired in 04 and went south. Now doing it again as I said " down south". It would behoove me to acquire and become the most proficient person on Glock 40's and shooting them. Would acquire a repair/replacement part stockpile as big as humanly possible. I would not get caught up in the AR/AK Hype. ( Have a few, not worth their effort) I could not justify shooting a person at 100 yrds, too much retreat space, too many unknown variables. If they were a threat and got close enough, my 40 Glock would suffice, and I might borrow/use their weapon after they were no longer harmful. I followed alot of this internet stuff, got caught up in it, ( my opinion BS, from those folowing other's BS). Very Very bottom line- spent money and time and bought stuff that is fun but is not relevant in life sitautions. Wish I could get 50% of price I paid for it. Wish all my wasted time and effort,(although I learned) money went into one type weapon, (for me not a revolver, a great weapon/gun, I love them for nostalgia and feel, own many including original NYPD odel 10 and 64) just too limited rounds and slow cumbersome reload, carry, but, HEY, to each their own,) MY absolute bottom line
Glock 40 Cal, billions of extra parts, skilled like a surgeon in placement, and not taking advice from every person whose instructor last month obtained a ccw. Learn your one weapon well, have parts to repair/replace, and then when, if ever the confrontation takes place, prevail, and claim the spoils. Three of one type in chamber than last two for Bear, 44 vs 50 cal, sp100 vs gp100, L frame vs 1911, Ruger vs Smith, IWB good belt, wood vs plastic grips, penetration VS wound entry, 3 inch vs 4 inch, best oil< come on we all love to learn, but I know I would not even want to stand in front of even a well placed/aimed BB gun. Before someone posts another what if SHTF or ammo question, or did I do good, or best place to CCW, or what is best at bedside, or best snubbie, or tyler grip, or too deep penetration, or best [removed by moderator], do some searching, save all those great helpful knowledgable folks some time in answering, and spend the time learning about your weapon in a progressive way.
