I've got the Holbrook Device. IF memory serves, I bought it from Holbrook himself at a gun show in Puyallup, Washington. Then again, I could be wrong. Works alright, but it's only a workable modification. I'd love a lever like the 1903 magazine cutoff. Rock it to one side, your clip auto-ejects. Rock it to the other side and your clip stays in the gun. If the gun is locked open with a clip loaded, operating the lever ejects the clip. Cool, eh? It worked in my mind, but I'm not a designer, just a theorists.
Gentlemen,
Some great comebacks. I said NO Detachable Mag. I would have setup a 20 round mag that was NOT Detachable but like the Garand's son the M14 loading from a stripper clip. For ready load and toping off you mag.
Thanks again guys some great input.

That being said, maybe rework the stock to have a pistol grip/align the barrel directly with the stock, and give the thing a muzzle brake at the end. And maybe put it in .276 Pederson (and modify the parts that need it for that purpose).
They did this at least twice. One was a paratrooper model trialed out in the summer of 1944 which 150 were made. The other the T26 only two were made and trialed out but WW2 ended before Patton and McArthur could get ahold of them into service.
What I would change? An adjustable or self regulating gas system. A different loading method involving stripper clip fed rounds. Oh and yes the .276 Pederson would have been nice. So would one in the 50s experimental British .280 round.
