I wonder what those 45 hours per rifle were spent doing?

If the factory worker wage in 1941 were $.50, that's $22.50 in labor costs alone per rifle... What was the cost to the government per rifle, total?

SA got the cost down to about 28/26 dollars per M1.

With advances in automated manufacturing, CNC and others, my guess is that that 45 hours would be closer to 20.
