I would beg to differ. I suspect a lot of deer have been taken with a 22 magnum. At night. While staring into a spotlight.ahh but a deer rifle it's not!
ya many deer were killed by 22 mag, my dad said on the farm as a kid, he would shoot deer with the 22 long and go in for lunch. finding the deer in the field dead. think he shot the ribs for the lungs.I would beg to differ. I suspect a lot of deer have been taken with a 22 magnum. At night. While staring into a spotlight.
Fair enough, lol. let's say that it's not general use deer rifle.I would beg to differ. I suspect a lot of deer have been taken with a 22 magnum. At night. While staring into a spotlight.
CZs wood stocks are nicer than the standard sporter stocks on vanguards. Otherwise I totally agree....I also happen to just really like the 1500/Vanguards.I never understood why CZ only offered the 557 in a 20” barrel when they first came out. There’s no way I would have bought one. I have a 550 and it’s my favorite bolt action of what I own. Now that the 557 comes with a 24” barrel I don’t see anything separating it from a Weatherby Vanguard which sells for $100.00 less. So I’d probably get another Vanguard instead of a 557.
if i pic up a ruger american one day id like to buff the bolt, i have this blue stuff that will get anything to a mirror shine, then it would be as smooth as a tikka for 1/2 the money.I tend to agree on the Tikka's. They are superb working rifles but the price has really gotten up there. I got mine for $450 15 years ago. Really nice build quality but kind of hard to argue with a ruger american or the like at half the price. The tikka is better, but I'm not sure its twice as betterer.
or just have it cera or duracoated. that fills the grooves in the receiver and bolt well enough to make them nice and smooth.if i pic up a ruger american one day id like to buff the bolt, i have this blue stuff that will get anything to a mirror shine, then it would be as smooth as a tikka for 1/2 the money.
True.CZs wood stocks are nicer than the standard sporter stocks on vanguards.
ahh but a deer rifle it's not!
The stainless T3 is a beautiful, long-lasting hunting rifle, even if you don't treat it like a bride. I use .270s more than any other deer cartridge and they haven't failed me, but I also can't say anything bad about the '06, 7mm-08 and several others.Tikka T3 in 7-08.
CZs wood stocks are nicer than the standard sporter stocks on vanguards....
......now who's the enabler. But not nicer than the 24" CRF Ruger Africans.
(and they even come in 6.5x55)

When you get into the higher grades of CZ you are talking about a different animal. Too bad we can't put these rifles side by side. I don't think anybody offers as many calibers as CZ. It's hard for me to make a comparison I do not own a current generation Model 70.But not nicer than the 24" CRF Ruger Africans.
i think USOG on youtube may have compared them, he is one of the few channels i like anymore. When you get into the higher grades of CZ you are talking about a different animal.
