In today's political climate, what would you buy?

Classic Arms has a few different types, Wasr-10's, AMD-65, AK47C, etc.

I'm not limited to those choices but that's all I see available. Can anybody recommend something?

I picked up a new AMD 65 last month for just under $600, and I love it aside from the handguard/forward grip, but I am looking to trade it for more traditional furniture soon hopefully. The muzzle brake is nasty. It is by far the loudest AK I have ever been in the presence of, and it also has the least recoil of any I have shot. The folding stock is solid and comfortable(for me, at least), and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a AK folder.

For that you could pick up an SKS-M that takes AK mags, rather than the now overpriced bottom of the barrell AK variants.

......I'd be a few hundred short in my area.

Did see a Yugo M70 underfolder that looked sweet, but they wanted $899 for it.:eek:

I did what .45 Guy suggested. A few weeks back I bought an SKS and 1k rounds of ammo for a grand total of $550.

I was really leaning towards the AK but am really glad I bought the SKS instead.

I left it stock cause stripper clips are faster.

From another post, but...
Is an AK-47 based on a Romy G kit with an NDS-3 receiver and tapco trigger group, threaded barrel w/slant brake, 2 30 rd mags, and parkerized/duracoated a good deal for $600?

The only questions I would have would be headspacing/barrel chrome.

Thoughts?

Saiga's still have to be converted, and this is for my dad and he won't really want to do that. He doesn't really like AK's but wants something to hold him over until AR15's drop in price a little because that's what he really wants.
So, what's the best deal out there for $600 AK's right now?

Find a low priced Norinco MAK-90 with some Chinese mags and buy a case of ammo.

One of the few AK47s Century did right was the Yugo M70 AB2 with the under-folder stock. I got mine a year and a half ago for about $449.95 with two magazines and a bayonet. I had over 1500 rounds of 7.62X39 Chinese (Norinco) ammo that I needed to shoot so getting a Yugo was the most cost effective way to go about doing it.

I haven't been able to find those anywhere. Anybody got a suggestion for a rifle that they know is in stock somewhere.

I've been there pj150, what I am looking for are recommendations. They have 3 different AK's and I don't know enough about them to decide. I'm an AR guy.

x2.

I got mine a year ago for $399. Best purchase I've made in a long time. Unbelievable what they're going for now.

It sounds to me like he oughtta save the $600 for AR accessories and ammo, since he doesn't really want an AK.

FWIW, I was going to recommend Saiga, but I guess tht's out.

Here's another thought: why not get an AK in .223/5.56 so that your dad can use the same ammo in his (future) AR-15?
