If you have a sigma, read this.

From when i remember dry firing his, its on par with a glock with a stock trigger. or a little better.

Is it reliable, will it fire?

Yes, Hes taken it to the range and it shoots better now he claims, very accurate once he got rid of the trigger pull.

I just IM'd him, and he responded.

Has it been reliable sence modding?

a cubic s-load of thousands of rounds
I had to replace the recoil spring

We are all in awe of folks who find and remove all those useless gadgets gun designers put in just to annoy shooters. It just shows how an ordinary gun owner can be a lot smarter than factory engineers who have spent years working out gun designs.

FWIW, that '"useless" spring is what ensures sear reset after disconnect. I am not sure how to make a Sigma go full auto or fire out of battery, but tossing that spring might be a good place to start.

Which spring, Im going by what he said, he hasnt reported any problems with his going full auto. Of course, with any of the WECSOG gunsmithing techniques, you are to use and try at your own risk, with this one, if something like that does happen, you could put the spring back in.

Hi. I am the nutcase with the spring removal issues. :neener:

the sigma had its trigger pull intentionally increased to make the 'kids can fire that" people happy from all the research i have done on the gun. This was also about the same time they were given grief by Glock for the 1st gen being a clone. (mine is actualy using a G19 captive guide rod)

The "pigtail" spring I removed is redundant and does nothing but increase the sear/trigger pressure. My trigger pull with it removed is sub 5lbs. sorry but I don't have a trigger scale being the cheap bastard I am :D

I have well in excess of 5k of rounds through it. from high end JHP and LC ball to the most craptacular surplus 9mm I could find. It is also the "beater" gun that I let people learn on at it has little recoil and is more accurate than I am.

No issues, no FTF, no bursts, hell I only had issues when I had to replace the recoil spring at like 3k of MY ammo as I got the gun used.

Also neat note: the "silver" 1st gen Sigma ca be Rit dyed to just about any color. Mine is a neat OD/Brown. the only other mod I would do to the sigma is polish the trigger block button in the slide, this cuts a LOT of friction. DO NOT mess with the sear/striker engagement as that is asking for you to be pissed off. I also replaced my plastic "striker spring tube" or whatever its called with one made of brass.

You can search google with my screen name and you can see that I am not just some random hack doing nasty things to poor pistols.

I am a well educated hack doing nasty things to poor pistols :p

Since the original post has been edited, and #4 by the OP - this thread no longer hangs together too well!!!

Rather than lose all remaining content I will simply close it and leave readers to speculate on its original drift by reading Jim's comment.
