It would work well if designed properly. The problem with the FAL is that the bolt locks into the receiver. The stress caused by that will eventually destroy the receiver, making it out of weaker aluminum only speeds the process up. So long as the bolt is locking into the barrel there is no problem with destroying the receiver because you're destroying the barrel instead.Also, how well would .308 work in a polymer gun? They can't even make FAL receivers out of aluminum; they blow up.
