TO ALL;

Last week John Cushman and I had a meeting with Ed Romaine, Republican Candidate for Suffolk County Executive. During our discussion, he made a commitment to the Sportsmen of Suffolk County to address the pistol license procedures and restrictions. He also stated he will set up a Sportsmen Advisory Board to get advice and opinions on issues that concern Sportsmen. In view of the promises, we feel that the Sportsmen of Suffolk should support his campaign. His campaign headquarters is located in the Islandia shopping center on Veterans Highway just south of the Long Island Expressway. The phone number is (631) 342-0400. Their office is open from 9 A.M. -- 8 P.M. seven days a week.

He is looking in particular for some older folks to handout material at the 50 Plus Lifestyles & Senior Celebration at the Suffolk County Community College Sports and Exhibition Complex Brentwood off the LIE exit 53 on Friday October 24th, 2003 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

In addition, you all know what Ginny Fields has done for Sportsmen in Suffolk. She also needs our support and help. Ginnys' headquarters is located at 128 Main Street in Bay Shore at the corner of Ocean Avenue. The number is (631) 206-0221. The hours of operation are 9 A.M. - 8 P.M.

When you go to the headquarters of either candidate, tell them that you are from SAFE/NRA. Give them your first name only. If they or you need additional information, contact me at (631) 589-4348.

Let's all get out there and show that Sportsmen will stand behind their chosen candidates and elect the right person for the job!

Sincerely,

Lou Giordano

Pure politicospeak.

Gasp! A politician said he'd look into an issue and solicit input?

When is a promise not a promise? When nothing is promised!

Did he ever say, "I support unrestricted, shall-issue carry permits" or any other definitive statement? Or did he just say that your opinion is important to him, and he'll look into it?

It's a little premature to throw your support behind such vague statements.

And I guess I really don't care too much that he solicits opinion from "sportsmen." I'd be happier to see that he was interested in the Constitution, or perhaps people's human right to self defense.

What he did say was the following....

"I will not have any sheriff working for me that will put any restrictions on any permits in Suffolk County"

He said this at the NYS Right to carry conference last month.

John Cushman is a dedicated activist and has been so for years. If he said that a politician deserves support than he does.

Please do not make excuses for not helping out, especially when you are likely to come back and complain on boards like this later on. If you don't like the way things are here's a chance to change them. Do something or sit down and shut up.

This is not meant as a personal attack on any one individual but an attack on gun owners in general.

Well, that is something altogether different!

The first post contained nothing but politician doublespeak and was worthy of every bit of scorn.

Oh, and by the way, where the heck is Suffolk County? Please fill in your location and try to mention the city and state your post refers to.

No problem

Suffolk County encompases the eastern half of long island NY. The letter posted was sent out to the activist community so I posted it as far and wide as I could. If you know anyone living on Long Island NY please forward it to them. The election is in a little under two weeks now. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Great!

Now please go to "User CP", then "Edit Profile" and add your location. Makes it a bit easier to follow what you're saying.

I would but

I'm in New York City. Unrestricted carry on Long Island won't help me but it will advance the cause alot more than can be done here in NYC

I dont understand what my location has anything to do with the article

but if it will make you happy.
