...there are those that worship at the temple of Gaston, and there are those that worship at the shrine of the venerable John Moses Browning.

I am a member of neither congregation. I enjoy my Glocks for what they are. The triggers are a challenge, but they teach me something every time out, as do my other autoloaders.

...and with respect, 7-yds is a widely recognized benchmark for contact distance for self-defense...and one that I practice regularly with all my autoloaders to obtain or retain a level of proficiency.

If you are talking NRA Bullseye type shooting, I think the 1911's have it all over the Glocks...I'm actually aggressively pursuing my first 1911 purchase...just for spite , I may have it move in with the Glocks in the same safe .

Glocks and a 1911 living together, what is the world coming too?

I'd grab a 21, so I could have something that shoots .45ACP like my dad and my brother's guns (my own handgun shoots 9mm, cause the ammo's so cheap).

I have shot almost all of them. The frames are different. I would pick either the model 29 or model 30. More bang and PUNCH for the buck. Just my .02. Good luck on the draw!!

Or a Browning, or a Colt, or a CZ, or a Sig, or a H&K, or a Hi-Point....ok stretching it there, but you get the idea. Just about anything else on the planet other than a Glock.

Trying to think of something good to say about a Glock. Ok, thought of something. They're light and they don't have a beavertail or a grip safety....
