Not long ago I stopped in at a local pawn shop to pick up some DVD movies.
This pawn shop had over 200 DVDs and they were on sale for $2 each. After looking through them I found 7 movies I wanted. I paied for the movies and was about to head out the door. When the pertty young lady that works there said to me, "Your not going to look at the guns today?" I thought what the hell and walked to the back of the shop. They had some nice guns in stock and a Remingtom 552 Speedmaster cought my eye. The tag had $139 on it. It really needed to be cleaned up and would have been a good buy for a project rifle, but I already have a 552 in good shape and really don't need another project gun.
There were several Ruger 10/22s, new and used, but the stainless steel one with the longer barrel cought my eye. It looked like the tag had $199 on it and I really didn't want to buy a gun that day. The young lady asked if I would like to look at it and I said yes. Well I was wrong about the price on the tag. It said $159, but I still didn't really want to buy a gun. But then I heared the words falling out of my mouth, "Can you work on that price?"
 What was I doing? I really didn't want to buy a gun!
She looked at the tag and said, "I can let you have it for $130 out the door." With a sweet smile on her face.
Well I'm a sucker for pertty girls and guns at great prices, so I bought it. :D

Oh! here are the movies I picked up too. Not bad for $24.

Gunny,
Your pawnshops are way cooler than any around me. I think my shops work on the equation of take one beat to snot handgun, lookup NIB retail, add 20%, refuse to haggle.

A few years ago I stopped in at a little gun shop in Boaz Alabama and got a pretty good deal on two M91 Mosins.
The key to finding good deals at pawn shops is to stop in often.

Looks like you got some good flicks but you stole the rifle! That's what's commonly known as the Walmart special. It was a model made only for Walmart and sported a 22" barrel and birch sporter stock. They're commonly going for upwards of $350 on auction sites. $130 would've been a steal on any good 10/22 but it's especially good for that particular model. Well done! :)

Yep, Walmart sold these 1022s. At one time Ruger offered the same rifle with a Walnut stocK . They called it the Classic. I scored on a Walnut Classic stock that needs a little TLC. As soon as I can find the time I will clean up the Walnut stock and put on the rifle.

Another key to shoping pawn shops is to get to know the people that work there. Never try and teach them anything about guns. Don't ever let them know that you know more about guns then they do. You just want them to know that you are the nice guy that likes guns.

The shops that I go to have no clue that I have more guns then they do. They only know me as the guy that is always in the shop and likes old military guns and 22s.
It also helps that I do stock repair work. I just fixed two Browning A5 handguards and a Browning 22 Auto butt stock for one shop. We treaded for the work. I dropped off the stocks and went home with a Mossberg 151M(a) 22 simi auto rifle. No money out of my pocket.

Simply a friendly acquaintance will work wonders when it's time to buy something. For sure and for certain. ;)

Nice score on that 10/22 I bought the same rifle from Wal-Mart but that stock you have is ausome.

Nice rifle, really nice deal. I've more or less given up on pawn shops. None within reasonable driving distance are worth a d*#$, and our ridiculous waiting period rules mean it's not worth looking more than an hour from home.

Yep, I do the same thing. I picked up a Winchester 62A made in 1940 in January.

Nice rifle Gunny. It's a well known fact that when a Marine makes E-7 they get a little strange, but one of the things that they can do well is BSing pretty girls.

Nice score. I'd have fallen all over myself buying that from a pretty girl, too.

Don't much like the pawnshops around here.
