Really wierd,I was packing my gun bag to go shooting last night when I looked-really looked-at my ammo stash.I have less than 100 rifle rounds(in six calibers!)
& less than that in handgun rounds.Eeeek!I still have a couple of bricks of .22s thankfully.Oh & a couple of paper sacks full of brass. ;)

I hope my tax refund comes quick. All of a sudden I feel kinda nekkid!

Anybody else let this happen to them?

100 rounds in 6 calibers :what:

Somebody's been asleep at the wheel.

Go forth the the ammo purveyor and cleanse thyself in pools of new cartridges.

I have a back section of the gun closet that holds the "emergency stock" of ammo. I never touch it. When the supply at the front dwindles, it's time to buy more.

I buy ammo by the case. Upon opening a case, I no longer consider it part of my supply, no matter how long it takes me to use it. Only unopened cases are counted. That way, I'm always underestimating the amount I have on hand.

Out of ammo? That's when you yell up the stairs, "Honey, where did you put my ammo?"

Maybe it just got re-organized while you weren't looking.

Regards.

It sounds like you've been having too much fun at the range! :D

I usually order ammo online when I want larger quantities and I will try to find bulk ammo deals to save a bit.

When the weather gets bad otside, I try to find an afternoon to crank up the reloading press and churn out a few hundred rounds of ammo. I only reload for .45ACP and .357mag so right now I have to buy 9mm, .38spl, .223, 30-06, and 7.62x54R

I created an Excel spreadsheet to track my ammo usage, both purchased and used to see what calibers I used most and from that data, I was able to build sort of a buying schedule. As long as I remember to update the spreadsheet, I can get a good idea when I need to replenish my ammo locker.

Eeek!

If I get below 3000 of anything I start to panic...and that's having local gunshows every two months!

I also count like RileyMc does - if the case is opened it doesn't count...ammo cans don't count...only fully sealed cases count.

(chuckles to self...)
I seem to have no less than 1000 for every caliber I own and atleast components to reload 5K or more in the "critical" calibers of .45acp, .223, .308
and oh, loaded shotshells and components in similar numbers.

I thought I had very little

But now I know I have very very little ammo. I have about 200 rds of 357 and that is only CCI blazers. None anymore for my .38 spc and no more for my 30-30. Granted I just back from shooting over 500 rds from 4 of my guns but still I am hurting about the ammo

Oops... meeee tooooo

Dang it- I'm down to less than 500 rounds for each gun too.... I gotta start doing like RileyMc and consider my self out when I open the case. Back in a bit, gotta go order myself some "christmas presents" in 9mm, 12 ga, .223 and .308
:cuss:

Got ammo now...

Geez, why don't they have Christmas sales on ammo???? That order about broke the bank! But I have 3k rounds coming, supposedly before X-mas. That means I can call it a Christmas present, right?

If your lucky, the wife or girlfriend took it and shot it all by herself.

Buy it cheap and stack it deep!

A few weeks ago I invited out to try a guy's Uzi and M16 - that will put a hurt on the old stash! Since then I ordered 8lbs of Varget, 5k primers and a few thousand bullets to fill up the ammo can before I go out again. That's what I'm doin' now - just took a break. ;)

I keep at least 1k of 7.62X39, .223, 9mm, .30-06, .22 lr, and 500 rounds of 12 gauge buckshot at all times. That gets rotated regularly when I get more ammo but never less than that. Just in case the SHTF.
.

I am back

5 boxes of fed 357 hydro shock = 100
10 boxes of 00 buck 12 ga = 50
5 boxes of 150 gr. 30-30 = 100
5 boxes of 170 gr. 30-30 =100
More will come on payday

Whenever I find my stash getting down into that barely acceptable number, I warm up the ol' Dillon 550B and try to wear it out. Ain't succeeded yet, but it keeps my ammo closet full.

I have the opposite problem - lots of ammo and I'm not allowed to shoot it!!! :fire:

I had back surgery in July, following an injury in February. The operation didn't work, so hey-ho for more surgery in the new year... and my nice doctor says that recoil is transmitted to the spine, so guess what? Nothing except rimfires for me until I'm cured!

My ammo locker got stocked up in January, and it's been sitting there ever since. I feel guilty every time I walk past it!!!
