I,m comming over next month to go to the Fall shoot at Knob Creek and I was hoping to bring back some ammo in 5.45 x 39 with me to the UK, I'm limited by the airline and the UK government to bringing back around 250 live rounds so I was hoping to buy a load more and de prime and pull the heads as the cases and heads aren't considdered dangerous cargo ie not limited,I can bring back a good supply then simply re prime,re fill and re seat the heads as I need them at the other end. Primers and powder are not controlled so I can normally get what I need okay.I realsized that steel cases aren't reloadable generally (although some say its okay) but since mine would be unfired I'm willing to try.
What I had not realised was that the primers are an odd size which screws up my plan completely just thought they were ordinary small rifle but apparently they're not.
So HELP can anyone suggest a way round all this, are there reloadable brass and heads out there that take normal primers,or even live rounds that would be better for this than the steel cased stuff, and if so a retail outlet near Louisville KY,where I could pick them up.
Bear in mind that interstate and international shipping are both a no-go for various reasons.

Watt,

I hate to disappoint you, but I've been looking for reloadable brass for the 5.45 X 39 caliber for the past year and haven't found any. It's just a tough caliber, as it's still new here in the United States and there's not been enough firearms and interest in the caliber to attract brass manufacturer's attention.

Our best hope is if Privi Partisan begins to manufacture this caliber, either for their own sale or for the Wolf Gold brand.

Regards,

DAve

Thanx for the lick I'll call them tomorrow and get myself a stock although I can't see any matching heads listed on their site maybe they have a source thanx again 2400

2400,

Thanks for posting that. It's high, but it's the only game in town I'm afraid.

Watt,

To find the right bullets, you'll have to convert metric to inch calibers.
