Over on the S&W Forum, a Hamilton Bowen rebuild has been completed and sent back to it's owner. It started life as a .38-44 HD N-Frame, and is now a .45 Long Colt snubby. While I think that I'd leave a fairly scarce .38-44 HD alone, and pick something considerably less collectible for the conversion, the finished product is indeed gorgeous:

Shucks Darin - you know how to make a fella drool!!:p

What a lovely revo indeed. I am also feeling some rising lust looking at that tho as you mentioned it'd be hard to see doing anything to an original 38-44. Still, appears to be one stellar result.

I'd hardly dare try and put a price on that!

Uh, Gewehr...?

Where's the pin for the barrel?

I like the configuration, caliber and general tone of the revolver. But where's the barrel pin? Don't tell me someone welded up the hole to make it look 'modern'.

On a similar note, I have an Outdoorsman with adjustable sights. It's been used, the finish somewhat degraded and it's been rechanbered to .357 Magnum. I may have it re-done to a short barrelled .45 ACP or .357 Magnum configuration. The collector's value is already been done in.

I'm still wondering about the barrel pin. Perhaps it is a new frame after all?

I see the pin, too.

I'm running a 19" LCD monitor, it's there plain as daylight.

Makes me wanna peruse the local pawn shops again, looking for an N-Frame. But I won't butcher a .38-44 HD, I promise! (Even though if anybody's entitled to butcher a scarce N-Frame, it's Hamilton Bowen)

BTW, folks, this is not my revolver. It belongs to a gentleman on the Smith & Wesson forums. I'm just a drooling bystander who wanted to share Hamilton Bowen's artwork with others here on THR.

Archie, I think it's time to power down your screen and break out the Windex.:uhoh:

Nice, nice revolver. Makes my Model 22 look just like what it is...a pale imitation.

Yes sir, that is a fine looking Smith. Love the bead front sight
