When I met my wife she was extreme anti, with good reason I believe. She had seen terrible things done by bad men with guns, which was her only exposure to guns.
During the year that we dated I only owned 4 guns and never took her shooting or even had reason to bring them up. For 4 years after we were married due to some veru wierd circumstances we had no money available for anything so there were no new purchases made.
About 2 1/2 years ago things straightened out and I was able to indulge again, Besides the computer I have also bought about 40 more guns. Her constant complaint was "Why more than 1"and "If the police find out you have these you'll be arrested".Recently she had been saying that WE only needed 2 1 for me and 1 for HER.
But it gets better. This morning she asks me 'You give me one gun small, for go shop"? I'm so proud I could bust.

I've always marveled how somebody could knowinlgy marry an anti, especially an female anti.

Yeah, there's always the hope she'll turn around, but what if she doesn't? Too much risk, too much headache, too much trouble. But it does sound like she might be making that turn. Have you spent any range time with her?

God forbid something happened to my spouse, I'd never marry someone who wasn't exactly in line with my 2nd amendment thinking.

I agree, that would be like marrying someone with totally different political, religious or moral values. I know of some succesful relationships like this but they are very few.And I'm too old to make that sacrifice.
I knew that most of her family was dead, but did not know how they died
Had I known how anti she was I might have passed on her. However She is not one of those that feel the need to impose her will on others, it was more of an imposition on her than it was on me.

Mine was "on the fence" when we got together. She was raised around them, but she didnt really see the point in carrying. "Thats what the police are for," kind of mentality. All it took was pulling up our local sex offender website. Immidiately after that she got her CWP and shes been packing ever since.

My wife used to be a typical conservative yellow-dog Texas Democrat but after she read Barry Goldwater's biography she reconsidered her stance. She's always been around firearms and has even used one to shoot a burglar long before we met.

I keep after her to send in her packet for her CHL but she keeps procrastinating. Of course, she carried most of the time irregardless of this.

Dang but I'm lucky.

Regards,
Rabbit.

This is my ''2nd time around'' ... and we've been married three years plus.

Initially she was, shall we say ..... a ''tad ambivalent'' .... although she had grown up with guns and her old man used to always answer the door with his piece accessible!

Hoever, some years back her brother shot and killed her gramps ...... it was an accident (should never have happened..... of course) and that i think made her less ''comfortable''.

Since we married tho ..... she has gotten used to my 24/7 carry, eventually!! ... and in the last year or so has been with me to the range and made it quite clear that she is not only easily proficient with numerous guns but ... a damn good shot for a relative novice.

She got on best with the Taurus M66 using 38 spl's ... damn well in fact and this now is essentially her HD gun. I hope over time she may be comfortable going for her CCW also.

If she had been out and out anti initially .. I doubt our ''courtship'' would have gotten very far ...... but I love her to bits so ..... who knows .... maybe I'd have converted her anyways!!:p :)

I too am proud ..... :)

I don't go out with anti-Second Amendment bigots twice. Life is too short to waste time on wannabe tyrants.
Fortunately I don't consider anybody who dosn't agree with my every thought and bow to my every whim to be a bigot or tyrant.

This is a woman who lived through the massacre of her village and was then forced to watch her father and 2 older brothers ages 16 and 17 summarily executed, when she woludn't stop crying she was kicked the face breaking her jaw and permantly disfiguring her face. She is not someone who has learned her beliefs thru watching anti gun TV, every time she looks in the mirror she is reminded of what happened the only time she was exposed to guns.
