Came across some info from a guy in Brazil who says they are limited in what they can have for personal carry to 38SPL or .380ACP, and that he has a 1911 pistol in .380ACP made by Imbel, which is a Brazilian company. Sounds interesting.

Does anyone know if Imbel pistols are imported into the US? Are they any good?

The slides and frames of Springfield Armory GI and Mil-Spec pistols are made by Imbel, Brazil. I know this because they all say "IMBEL BRAZIL" on the bottom of the dust cover. They are forged and are very good frames and slides.

I don't know if they make SA's "Loaded" frames/slides, but maybe they do.

Encouraging, but I'm interested in sort of odd-ball 1911s, and a 1911 in .380ACP would fit that description -- and it's available in a double-stack version that holds 19 rounds. Like an arsenal in your pocket.

Does anyone know if the Imbel guns themselves, not Springfield parts, are imported to the US?

It was a common complaint of mis hermanos pistoleros in much of South America
that they are limited by law to 9mm. Corto (.380 ACP, 9mm Kurz, 9mm Browning).

Thanks for the heads up... and thanks Riley for the link.
