Looking around a gun shop that is new to me, saw what I thought was a baby eagle. except it was marked IMI. I know IMI makes them all, but didn't know if this was rarer or not.

Had the frame mounted safety, .45 cal. good condition. And it just fit so right in my hand. (have to get some rubber grips for my CZ now)

Asking price was $399 + tax. Good price? good gun?

But a CZ is a quite a bit more. And I want to expand into different brands.

And .45.... is well, .45. about all I can say. In a Cz style no less. If I could find a CZ97 for $400, I wouldn't have asked, it would be here with me right now.

Well. when asking my wife. she was no help at all. While still being completely awesome.

"I don't know if I would like shooting .45", "It's your money, do what you want."

And I get paid again friday. So, chances are looking good for heavy bullets in my future. Unless something else in the $400 or less range starts consuming my mind. Like that really nice sks.....

I own a jericho (although in 9mm not the 45) I really like it its accurate and mines been 100% reliable. Picked it over the CZ (it fit my hand better). It sounds like a good deal to me

As much as I want it, I want other things. And some rubber grips on my cz would probably put the feel about the same.... cheaper ammo... all that. Having second thoughts.

All those nice new guns.... the random impulse buy almost can't compete.

The Baby Eagle's A.K.A. Jericho used to be manufactured by IMI but was privatized some years ago and now made by IWI. The first thing about the .45acp model is that there are no OE or aftermarket grips avail that I have seen, only the 9mm and .40S&W offer different grips. Second thing is that the frame and slide has been made bigger to accommodate the bigger round. Third the .45 only comes in the subcompact size, same grip length but is wider & has the 3.75" barrel. Something to check before buying it is to see what type of rifling the barrel has, Land and groove or Polygonal. Polygonal is what you want. The polygonal rifling is one reason that makes the Baby Eagle's so good. Weight is another consideration, My B.E. Weights in at 2 lb 5 oz empty and 3 lb with full mag. I just purchased a standard size B.E. in 40 S&W W/slide safety (A.K.A. a Jericho 9413) brand new for $400, they were asking $438 but a little haggling works. If your a person that likes to tinker & buy aftermarket goodies to make them better then the B.E. isn't for you, Even the 9mm and .40S&W versions only offer changes to grips and sights. Thats it.
:neener:(It's because the Baby Eagle's A.K.A Jericho are perfect out of the box)

Didn't check rifling. I usually rack the slide a few times, look at feed ramp type, release mag, check trigger pull, see if da, sa, dao. types of safety, grip size, how it points.

only bought one gun though, and interior barrel condition is a good thing to check, just never do. Looking down the barrel is a bad idea, and taking apart all their guns is just as bad an idea.
