While at the range yesterday, I decided to bench my pistol and shoot at 50 yards. Managed just over an inch. Don't know if that's good or not, . . . . but there it is.

This was done with my custom CZ SP-01. Fantastic pistol that will do a quarter sized ragged hole at 7 yards without me even really concentrating. I'm going to start trying to, over time, work at getting tight groups at 10 yards, then 15, eventually out to the 25 yard mark. 7 yards is just too easy. . . . with THIS pistol.

I don't know how people do that...consistently. All things being just perfect, my young eyes can't make out a bullet sized object at 50yrds with precision.

Great shooting for sure.
I wish I could of beem there to take a picture of the target.......so I could show all my buddies how good "I" can shoot.:)

Thanks guys. Again, this was benched,.. . . . .thought not a really sturdy bench, but stable enough to take out my own personal movement. I may have to "give it a shot" again sometime. :)

Is the group at 25 yards (title) or 50 (message body)?

Yup. Inherent accuracy of 1"@50Y is excellent. 1"@25Y is good, but not quite what I'd consider match-grade.

Also, was this "just over an inch" the result of a single group? You need to shoot multiple groups to establish what it can deliver consistently. And unless you absolutely knew you threw the shot (and called it when you shot it), all shots count. Discounting "fliers" ain't allowed.

If you can shoot a 1" group at 50 yards, why would you think that you would have any problems at 10, 15, or 25 yards?

I've got to agree that 7 yards is far too easy. I've never even heard of anyone bothering to shoot for group size at 7 yards.

We're dealing with probabilities here. It's possible you got really lucky. 1 inch at 50 yards with iron sights is something I'd be willing to put money down against. Heck, even at 25 yards. We talking 3 shots, 5 shots, 10 shots,...?

I'll have to do more rounds downrange benched to see how it goes. I've not really done it before, so it is a learning experience.

I'm not even going to try 50 yards. Maybe in a couple years.

That is outstanding. A good center-fire match pistol with quality ammunition will deliver groups at or just under 2" @ 50 yards. You will pay a lot of money to have someone build a gun that guarantees and delivers 2" or better at 50 yards.

Thank you! It really is a fantastic gun and I'm looking forward to shooting it more and trying to get more precise with it. :)
