Was faced with a problem of how to clamp one's Colt cap 'n ball frame into a vise. Unlike the Ruger Single Six or other Ruger variants whose frames are parallel (and therefore heavier/heftier), Colt has a tapered frame both from front to back. Sometimes those rubber like vise jaws hold but if you don't have them, you can do what I did in class last week. There was scrap pine wood laying around. A couple of pases on the band saw and instant vise jaws. You may have to get rubber bands to keep them there, but the pine compresses wonderfully and holds those taper frames quite well.
