So there I was, browsing the shop with no intention of buying anything (unless they had a SIG P226ST.) The Glock 32 caught my eye and I kindly asked to play with it. I have basically zero experience with Glocks and never had any inclination to start now, until I held the thing. It fit my hand perfectly and the trigger was impressive. The combo of night sights and a couple 13rd mags sealed the deal, I actually bought a Glock.

So I proceed 20ft down the aisle and buy some ammo for it, I've got the coupon for 1 hour free range time in my hand. My wifes new Kahr is in my range bag waiting to be broken in and now I own a Glock, life is good. I head out on the range and that's when the shock hit me. I shoot the Glock better than any other pistol I own. I have no explanation for this other than it fits my hand very well.

I've been pretty vocal in my criticism of Glocks even with my limited experience. Today I was both pleasantly surprised and humbled at the same time. Now excuse me while I go look for more Glocks to buy.

Your experience scares me, simply because I've (never owned a Glock but have shot quite a few of them) come close to buying one or two. And I shoot them pretty well. I actually like 'em.

I had a hard on for a 10mm, but passed. Same for both of the .45ACP variants.

It always comes back to me wanting to own another handgun that I feel has more of a soul. S&W K and N-frames, another 1911, etc. I keep telling myself that I could get accustomed to the European grip angle if I would just stay with it.

If I were to buy purely for shootability, I would be registering my warranty with Gaston. Then I would be registering Ruger GPs and Witnesses and maybe a Beretta or two. I love shooting all of them (including Gastons designs) but with a slightly restrictive budget I tend to stick with the guns that have character.

Then again, I own a S&W 442 which, while totally practical, lacks any 'character or soul' so I guess I should broaden my outlook.

Them Glocks keep calling me......

I can relate, a couple of years ago I descided to try some diferent rental guns out at the range. Shot the G31 in 357sig, and same result. I shot it better than anything else, even other glocks. Now I have a G33 sub compact to keep it company. I think i need a 10mm next!! :)

Enjoy your G32

It's funny because my brother has a 27 that he can't hit anything with but which seems to never miss when I'm shooting it. (ok .. .it misses occasionally :) ) I keep hoping that he'll get frustrated and sell it to me cheap but it's been 4 years and I'm still waiting. :(

Have a good one,
Dave

Does that count as a confession?

It seems that much criticism about Glocks comes from very experienced shooters with other guns who can't handle the big differences after trying one, or those who have never tried one to begin with. The flip side to that coin is that many new shooters/Glock owners fervently praise the Glock "perfection".

Frankly, I think that you'll love your Glock--they are absolutely amazing, just like the other quick shooting, low bore axis, consistent trigger pull blasters: the P7 series and the 1911, my other favs.
