Good Day .. these days finding generally accepted powders for .45 ACP (unique, bullseye, win 231, hp-38) is difficult at least .. so these two powders (at least in most of my load data charts) are about all I can find that are suitable. Would any one care to discuss the pros and cons of the two ??

I'm a fan of all 3 IMR SR powders so I can't say anything bad about them. There is one big CON though, all the SR powders are scheduled to be discontinued at the end of 2014 so either stock up on them now or don't get too attached to them, sorry...

Welcome to the forum!

Since my Big 3 (Win 231, Titegroup, & A#5) have been on vacation, I've gotten quite attached to 7625. Works very well with my 9's.

4756 works well for 38 specials and 357 magnums for which I have a lot of experience.

Sierra V manual says 5.8 to 7.5 grns of 4756 with a 230 grn FMJ. I have no experience with it so I will just pass on the data.

I have had good results with 7625 in any handgun cartridge except for 45 Colt. Scored an 8 lb at Midsouth. Placed a backorder on Monday, received notification Thursday, got it a week later.

I don't think I've used 7625, but I've burned a lot of 4756 with really good results for several decades. Too bad it's scheduled to be discontinued:mad:

I had trouble getting 7625 to burn completely in .45 acp with 200 grain plated bullets. I guess you have to be right at max.
7625 is a terrific powder for 9mm and .38 Super.
4756 is quite a bit slower, I use it in .357 for mid range loads. Similar to applications as HS-6. 4756 burns very clean, it's my favorite .357 powder.
