I usually use Win 231 or HP 38 to load 9mm, .38 sp, and .45 acp loads. Haven't been able to find powder in a while so I found some Imr 700x. I see on the load charts for my Lee dies that the numbers are there for 9mm and .38 spl but not for .45. Will this work for .45 acp? If so what are the load numbers? Thanks

Lyman 49th lists 700x in most all bullet types in 45. I have found that I need to load more on the max side of things to get my glock 21 gen 4 to cycle 230gn plated rn. I think I use 4.5gns, but please check RC's link if you do not have a manual.

I have used 700x in the .45ACP with cast bullets, but it tends to be loaded near the max and still burns a little dirty.
But it will work.

My favorite powder in 45 ACP is 700-X. Been loading it in 45 ACP under 230 FMJ bullets since 1980.

700x works fine in 45ACP but can be 'peaky'. It (almost) goes without saying, work up slowly and carefully.

I keep a list of powders for all the calibers i reload on my phone, so if i see something on the shelf i can look it up to see if i can use it. I have made a few of those (uninformed) powder choices myself.

700X meters about as good as Unique, sometimes I'll get a bridge in my Hornady measure--Unique does the same thing, you have to watch it.
This is what i found, your experience may be different.

700X was the only powder available when I started reloading. It shoots as good as my Hogdon titegroup, Autocomp, and WST.

It has a little bit of a funky smell, but thats just me.

I like it.

btw if your having trouble with it metering, you need to slowdown and check everything. Is there a baffle in your powder loader? Check and recheck and Check again!

be safe
