I ordered a medium sized In-Car Gun Safe from the company linked below. Cool design and just the right size for a J-frame or PM9 in a holster and extra ammo/magazine. Anchors to seat post or elsewhere with a cable that is removable from the box itself.

While not completely theft-proof, it is better than leaving a gun in the console. Will definitely slow a crook down. As an added benefit, it is FAA approved for trasporting a gun on an airline. It's about the size of a medium-sized hard bound book.

Anyway, someone here (I think) pointed it out on another thread and I immediately ordered one just to check it out. So far, a keeper.

Thanks for a great post !

I have used the Simplex for years , these run quite a bit more money. Folks bolt these into heavy furniture, in vehicle trunks or behind seats in trucks. Some may not use for firearms, instead valuables when going to the gym , or while on a road trip.

This idea hits a great price point and I will forward this to someone that has a need on a budget.

Another person I know, who travels by air and rents cars can use this as well. I like this one being portable.

Thanks again.

I have used one for about a year now. It allows me to conceal and secure my weapon (Kahr PM9 in Desantis pocket holster) and spare mag, but not a whole lot of room left over.

This allows me to drive my soft-top Suzuki Samurai and still have a way to secure my weapon if I go to the Post Office, etc.

I live in OH and drive a 95 Jetta w/o a glove compartment. This will solve a lot of problems for me. Thanks for posting!

Have you heard of Odyssey Automotive?

My personal favorite is the GS100 from Odyssey Automotive.

Looks similar to the one posted. However, Odyssey's box mates to a sleeve which can easily be permanently mounted in a vehicle. Additional sleeves can be purchased. I think it is a more secure system than the cable lock one.

This is a great product. Being a lawyer I go to court a lot and i am always worried about leaving the gun in the car. This will help.

Choice Is Good

I like the option of a cheap, portable pistol safe.

Come out with one of these puppies in a combo lock, & it'll be even better.
