Hi all,

New guy here, non gun owner (for now). I created my first post in the intro section the other day, but I wanted to ask a question. Never having owned a pistol, and leaning toward a H&K P30, I wondered if such a thing as a 'generic' pistol cleaning video exists. I know that a pistol is not a hugely complex machine (I wanted the salesperson at the gun store take a few of them apart and put them back together), but I wonder if a video that shows the basics of how to disassemble, clean, and put a semi-auto pistol back together. Sorry if this is just too simple minded for all of you experienced, knowledgeable owners, but I'd like to get some idea about how to do this. Thanks in advance.

There are lots of vids on youtube, some of them are even good. A lot of them are mall ninjas:neener:

One of the most common mistakes people make is over lubrication of their guns.

Welcome to the club.

You'll find everybody has their own way of doing things too. I like Simple Green and the bathroom sink for cleaning most of my stuff. You'll find what works for you.

NOT 'simple minded'. IS 'smart'.
If you ask 100 people here, you'll get 85 or more different cleaning product recommendations.
You'll see threads that guns went thousands of rds without any cleaning.
BUT, if you clean after every 1-200 rds (or before you put it on the shelf for several months), use reputable lubricants sparingly, it'll last a lifetime-----especially in Vegas where rust is not a problem.

P.S. Don't forget your mags.

Enjoy your new gun.
