Interesting that your FIL went from Indiana State Police to the AZ (DPS) Highway Patrol. It was just a few weeks ago that I purchased an AZ HP 50 year commemorative (1931-1981) Model 66-1.

Very nice. When my FIL retired from DPS he bought his issued Sig Saur P226 .40 S&W. No fancy engraving, just brutally efficient engineering and deadly accuracy.

You are missing the point....the engraving represents family history, not the value that a third party puts on it.
