I was at the Smith and Wesson shooting center in Sprinfield MA, and a perk of having the range there, they also rent out guns (S&W only) and while one of the range officers was doing the paper work and ringing me out I noticed that they have the underdesk cabinet stacked and I mean stacked with Independence Ammo boxes. I saw 38 special, .357, 9mm and 45.

A couple of the local gunshops have it, and its quite cheap, so I was just wondering if its any good, Me and my buddy went threw 100 rounds in 2 different guns and there were no problems.

I've shot two boxes of 9mm in my CZ P-01 and I liked it. Didn't notice any difference in accuracy compared with WWB for example - I thought it was a bit cleaner than WWB and actually think I like it better than WWB. No problem with FTF/FTE. Forget what the ballistic data is; but, I think it is not quite as hot as WWB.

I have used Indy ammo years ago and in my opinion it was as clean and accurate as WWB. I load all my own ammo now but would not have any problem running it through any of my own weapons again.

I've shot it when the S&W rep was in our area demonstrating their new line of M&P pistols and furnished it for the testing. It functions fine and went where I intended for it to go. The fact that it worked well for you and your friend is your answer.

Hope this helps.

My local range in Belleville, IL sells it in .40. I use it with my M&P40 whenever I go and don't have any ammo of my own. I've never had a problem with it, but this is my first gun so I can't really give you an "expert" opinion.

The first Independence brand ammo on the shelves was made for ATK by CBC in Brazil, makers of Magtech. It has since been seen with Made in USA labels and is probably just Blazer Brass in a different box.

Its a product of the whole ATK Federal/Speer company, supposedly imported by them from another company. I have shot a lot of it and it is very good quality, clean for practice ammo, accurate, never had a problem with it of any kind. Seems to be loaded a bit hotter than white box, but really what isn't.

I tried a case of .45 for my Sig 220 and it would nosedive the round every magazine. It fed fine through my 1911's but the Sig hated it.
