Hi, I came across one a few months back. The guy wanted to much for it then. I talked to him yesterday and he wants to sell it. If I remember right it looks like a three band Enfield. I know it has a crown stamped on it and a bayonet. At the time I dropped my bore light down the barrel. It didn't look to bad. The lock seems to work and I think I can get the nipple out. maybe......
I don't know if I buy it, if I should shoot it. When He gets home tonight I'll get the rest of the markings of it. He is asking $400- for it. He also has a trap door from India that he won't sell. I would love to have that,

Let me know what you all think of firing it. Also any info that you have. For all I know it isn't worth nothing and it should not be shot.

Thanks

I had an Indian .58 cavalry carbine with the captured swiveling ramrod. What a sweet shooter that was!Patched round ball, with sixty grains of 2f Goex would regularly ring the 100 yard gong.Minie balls would just tumble after fifty yards, though, probably due to the short barrel.Mine was an Ishapore.

Is this a new production or an original? Some of the new India productions have been troublesome.

Originals, out of both India and Pakistan, need to be checked out by a good gunsmith before shooting. Worst case, buy it and then have a custom new barrel fitted to it.

The new India productions are not proofed guns. Several have had failures of different types in the barrels, some catastrophic.

Did you ever sell the unfired Euroarms .58 Zouave that you listed for sale last April & May?
Since you asked, I just don't think that it would make a good replacement for that Euroarms .58.
It doesn't sound like it's in such good condition for the price either.
Why not look for a used reproduction Springfield with some really good wood? :)

Yes I sold the Zouave last spring. I thought those 58's were made in England during that time period. It has the British crown stamped on it. They made a lot of them. So they aren't collectable worthy then. I thought I might have a piece of history. Instead of repro....... and still be able to fire it. Will let you know what I do. Maybe it is just old but well made. I'll post all the marks that are on the rifle. Then one of you can let me know what way to go.

Thanks
