Not a thing.

From John Farman's Quips.

"The exit from the airport baggage-claim is ‘guarded’ by a single man, in uniform (after a fashion), obviously bored to tears, and with a vintage Kalashnikov Rifle casually slung over his shoulder. No magazines/ammunition, not in the rifle, and not anywhere on him. No pistol either.

It seems Indians have ‘upgraded’ since the Mumbai terrorist attack of 2008. They’ve boldly moved from unloaded WW1 SMLE Endfields, to unloaded Kalashnikovs!

During the next Mumbai attack, they will find both equally useful!”

Yes the AK the guard has is empty.... History will repeat itself one day. First time as tragedy, second time as tragedy again...

Hey, that's actually not a bad idea - as far as bad ideas go - if you consider the Canadian system of having the House of Commons' Sergeant-at-Arms keep his arms far away in a locked box. At least you could beat a terrorist over the head with an unloaded AK47

News Flash.. We didn't learn much either from 9/11/01.

Every dem*rat on the planet is "protesting" shutting down "OUR" borders.

Try slippin' in from messocoos southern border, see how you come out.
Only way by that is if you got dope, kids or women for sale, headed for USA. Fact.

That is incredibly sad. :(

In that part of the world the standards are a bit different. Remember as well that India and Pakistan have been in conflict since the day that Pakistan was formed (1948). Terrorism for both countries (and both do suffer from it...) is only just one of many serious problems that both shorten life and make things very difficult for ordinary folks (and I won't even mention air you can't breathe in the big cities, terrible over-population problems, etc.).

Most that live over here in the big PX (now I've dated myself, I know...) have no idea just how lucky we are. Imagine living in a world where you buy train tickets for your family then still have to pay a bribe to actually get on that train... My wife was born in Mumbai, raised in London, but still has extensive family in both India and Pakistan so I've learned a bit about that area. By the way a few years back she made a visit to Pakistan for a big wedding family deal - and reported that anytime she had to show her American passport things got pretty un-friendly almost anywhere she went (and that was a big change from years before when Americans were quite welcome.....). The two big factions in that part of the world are the Hindu on one side and the Muslim on the other side. If any place in the world has a nuclear exchange -it will happen there first...

Even if they had ammunition and mags half the time their guns fail to fire and even if they will actually fire they seem incredibly unfamiliar with them.

When actually encountering criminals they also fail to cinch down their body armor and just walk around with it flapping around uncovering what it could be protecting.

Some of them have 'Moonwalking' down real well though. :D

Maybe they should either hire the Gurkha's to be most of their police force or at least hire them to train their existing police force. Maybe free up some money for new weapons, ammo to fire them in training and for actual training. It's not really a question of if they'll get hit by Pakistani terrorists again, but when.

In contrast the Pakistani's have kids and a guy with no tongue fabricating guns with hand tools.

This is called "security theater" to persuade average Joe that all is well. But, our military is not much better in trusting soldiers with loaded weapons.
