I know hunting with a rifle is illegal in Indiana but they just made it legal to hunt with a rifle if your using certain handgun cartridges. My question is does anyone know if its legal to hunt with a rifle cartride in a handgun in Indiana. I have TC Encore in .270 and would like to use it.

It is my understanding that using a rifle for deer hunting was prohibited untill recently when the changed the rules and now you can use a rilfe that is chambered in pistol cartridges.

.270 is legal in Indiana in a handgun. See the Indiana hunting regs available from the DNR for a full explanation of which calibers in both rifle and handgun.

As to deer, you statement is incorrect as a blanket statement as muzzleloading rifles are legal and centerfire rifles are legal with predation permits against deer.

Dang, I hope kdfwr doesnt hear about this or we will be hunting deer in ky with rifles chambered in 25acp. On the other hand we could use a 3006 revolver.
