My friend and I want to go rifle hunting in Indiana; it being the closest state to where we live in IL allowing rifle hunting (to our knowledge). We are specifically looking for varmint hunting places.
I was wondering if anyone from IN knows a good place to go or knows someone who would know.

Thank you much

where in Indiana do you live? kentucky allows rifle hunting, if you live in the tri state area like myself its only a stone throw away.

While I haven't researched the laws, I don't understand the thing about "no" rifle hunting. I strongly suspect that you can use .22's for rabbits and squirrels, and centerfires for varmints. IL would be the same as IN in that you can't use rifles for deer. I'd re-check that. There are lots of IL guys here that will know

So is there a specific varmint that you're wanting to kill?

Or do you just have a rifle and you're wanting to kill something with it?

Folks might be able to help you a little more if they had some idea exactly what kind of critter it is you're itching to ventilate.

OK maybe I aught to clarify further.
We are looking to shoot .223, .308, & 7.62x39
We are mainly looking for coyotes, but smaller varmint will suffice.
As far as we know and have found out, from various IL web sites and calling governmental offices, IL is not the place for us.
We do not want to use shotguns.
If you know someone who knows something or know something I haven't found out, it would be a great help.

thank you.
