Indiana DNR built a new 41 position shooting range on the south side of Huntington a couple of years ago. Plenty of parking, covered positions (outdoors), rangemaster on site, and $4 per day, or $80 per year. ??

Hey - I don't live there, but it's on my list of places I might consider moving to.

Could you all give me a rundown of what it's like and what you like vs dislike about Indiana?

Likes, great gun laws. Pretty much everything except open carry is allowed.

Lifetime permits as of last year, Class three is easy to get, etc.

Property Taxes were a major issue but they are working on that. They just capped them at 1% which is going to make most of them drop. The flip side is that they raised sales tax by 1% to offset that. You will pay less overall but it still has an impact.

Most of the problems stem from 16 or so years of mismanagement in state government that we are trying to correct now.

Overall it is the only place I would want to live. I am a Hoosier through and through and not even Texas would draw me away.

Open is not specifically addressed by Indiana code. As a result, as long as you have a permit, open carry is allowed.

Hi Cheese,

My main complaint with (NW) Indiana is it's a long way from heaven and too darn close to Chicago.

I-65 is a major drug route for Chicago. Indiana Beach in Monticello attracts a large number of Chicago people that tend to bring Chicago problems with them.

On the plus side, (my part of ) Indiana is relatively flat allowing a lot of opps for long range riflery. Deer are plentiful and yet still a challenge to harvest. By and large the people are friendly and most still have the 'small town' attitude that helping out is "what neighbors are for."

Trapped in the PRC (peoples republic of California)

I originally hail from Muncie but I have been trapped in California for the past 14 years (my wife is from California). I figure 10 more years and she will be as fed up with this state as I am and we can move back to Indy... It's hard being a Colts fan in San Diego, especially after the playoffs last year.

I grew up there, but being in the military am not there anymore (NW in) thank god too because NW In has gone to crap over the last 17 yrs...here now and cant wait to get back to Idaho.

Danville, IN

Member of Marion County Fish & Game and do most of my pistol shooting there.....

I grew up in Muncie, and am currently living in Pendleton.

I'm a recently new member to the Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club in Markleville. If anyone else here is also a member and wants to go shooting sometime, send me a PM.

Sorry about the name Ben, but I love the colts. I am another member from Indiana.

Yeah that name hurts a bit, since I'm a big Brady fan...I would like the Colts if they played football...Inside a nicely heated/air conditioned dome with Astroturf ain't football.:neener:

I grew up in Muncie, and am currently living in Pendleton.

Isn't that where the big State penitentiary is? I'd want to have some firearms nearby too!:)

My Mom lives in Indiana...does that count?

Well yes, your mom counts...

You? Not so much! :neener:

Man, every time someone revives this thread we (Hoosiers) get a bunch entries...I just wish there were more in Southern Indiana...

DIETOMBRADY, shoot me a PM sometime and we'll go shooting.;) I'm sure exar would be down as well.
