Hello, im looking to find a good safe place outside to shoot.

Just looking to meet a decent responsible safe, law abiding citizen that has some land that also allows shooting, and would be open to a 2 or 3 times a month visit.

My daughter and I are sick of the fees at the local indoor ranges, plus she accels at places that are more private.

Im on the south side of indianapolis, Indian. willing to travel a little but not too far out.
Please send PM

Sorry to rain on your hopes for a place to shoot. I live south of Indy too. Moved here over 20 years ago and new about Atterbury Range which was unimproved, safe, free, and any stupidity was immediately addressed by other shooters. Then Governor Mitch Daniels decided to make it real nice for us. Put a lot of money into the range, set up a shop selling overpriced supplies and charging by the half hour for using what was essentially an indoor range outdoors. I went to look when it first opened around a decade go and never went back. I have been looking for a self-disciplined range, free or at least affordable without success. There were several years ago, but now many of them are gone thanks to liberals who complained, and exaggerated rumors, claimed we were poisoning the water, and you name it. Good luck! (we are more and more infiltrated by people who believe that guns are inherently evil and only for killing people and precious little animals whose coats we steal and whose flesh we avidly consume when in season like cannibals. In fact we are all low life idiots who don't care about the really important things like global warming, the forks over knives vegan movement, Be very careful when you vote this fall as Indiana has some of the best legislation upholding the second amendment, and making sure someone defending themselves and family are not imprisoned as murders when a 200 lb armed gorilla breaks in waving a Machete. If anyone here knows of a range as we had before, please let me know.

Tough to find a stranger that'll trust you on their property . I have a cousin a half hour away and I can shoot on his land but he insists he's there and I've got to schedule it.

My hunting lease is in a populated area and I'm only allowed to shoot shotgun there and only to put down a critter, no range time. Took me 10 years of asking folks to get that.

I think folks are concerned mainly with liability and secondarily with damage. I don't think anyone would care if they knew you'd be an angel but if they don't know you it would be a stretch for a private land owner to let a stranger use their land. As far as public shooting areas, they don't exist in my area, no such thing.

I'll eventually move out west, as I understand it there are areas in the desert you can shoot all you want. I haven't seen it personally but that's what I'm told.

Good luck
