Hi folks,

My Dad got a Remington 700 ADL tonight. We will probably put a scope on it when we get the funds but I'm looking for a good case for it. The box it came in leaves much to be desired.

It doesn't need to be fancy and I don't want combo locks since my father's lousy with numbers. Anything out there that's good, secure, and doesn't cost too much? Something that will still fit once we get the scope?

I bought a Remington soft case for my scoped BDL. I believe it is the 42". Works very well and good quality. Not something you would fly with though. If I was flying, I would get one of the high quality nondescript metal cases that travelers use for tools, etc. No sense in tempting the baggage handlers anymore than necessary, I have had too many things get 'lost' to believe that I am just unlucky. Especially in the East coast airports.

Doskocil hard cases run about $30 for a scoped rifle size and take keyed padlocks (add your own). They work well for basic range-and-back use. I've had half a dozen come and go with my various long guns that went when I sold them and new ones when I got new rifles or shotguns (different lengths generally, so a long case doesn't work for a short rifle ya know).
