For people looking for an inexpensive gun safe with lots of room. Go to Home Depot and purchase a job box. Fill it with guns and ammo. My unit is about 4 feet long, 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. Yes, it can be cut into with power tools, but mine is also guarded by 2 large animals. Mine is covered with lace sitting right in our living room. Don't really have many guns but do have lots of ammo.
If you know a locksmith have him get you a copy of "Dave McOmie on gun safes" My copy is copyright 1997. There are probably more recent editions available. My copy cost me $100.00 back in 2003.

I know everybody wants to know how safes work, but this can be some very bad advice.

In many states, if you are not a licensed locksmith, having a book like that could be considered possession of burglary tools. Might not be worth the risk.

As far as the job box, I have suggested that on occasion to potential customers. They can be just as secure as a gun safe, and cost less.
