I know that this is hard to imagine in America, but I was reading some of the battle plans proposed for Korea in the event of a full out attack by North Koreans. (My nephew is in the 101st Airborne and we discuss hot areas all the time--hopefully he isn't going there, but he appears to be a "lifer." so who knows)

One of the scenarios that is discussed is the event of "infiltration teams" sent to disrupt "civilian activity" to promote confusion and cause overloading on the communication systems and the established civilian police systems. The teams would probably be comprised of Spec Ops guys.

If you were a civilian who started hearing the rumors of infiltrators amongst the general populace...what would be your response?

Would you go to the local police station and try to volunteer as an "armed citizen?" Would you organize your Neighborhood Watch group to "defend" your neighborhood?

What would you do?

I have already joined with a few of the vets for Y2K and so we know who the "group" is and we have decided that we can patrol our neighborhoods after notifying our local PD.

We have already met with the beat cops at their role call with the blessings of the Watch Commander as volunteers who will help watch the neighborhood and to provide safe houses for the officers should they need somewhere to go in the neighborhood. This is just part of the Neighborhood Watch team work with the Police Department.

What else can be done?

Sounds like the U.S. Senate Democratic [sic] Caucus.

well for me personally. rather than going around and questioning suspected infiltrators, I would organize and defend. I.E. not letting unknown people into my area, look out for suspicous people, and generally just being an armed presence to intimidate the enemy.

That's not a hypothetical. A North Korean minisub ran aground in the mid 1990's (1996) on a mission to deliver a spec-ops team, who then killed the crew before heading ashore.

Here????

No the sub wasn't here, it was off the coast of South Korea. I forget what the North Koreans said but I remember laughing at the their story.

Every neighborhood around me is being infiltrated by people who steal over the southern border of the country. They gather into their own close-knit society, exist completely off the grid, and they don't pay a dime in taxes. Many are involved in the criminal drug trade. particularly crystal meth manufacture and distribution. There have been numerous shootings.

It's already happening. How long before someone pays them enough to do something even worse?

Apparently, the government doesn't see this as enough of a problem to take any real action, so the best I can do is watch my own backside: arm up and stay vigilant.

Erik F,

That situation is what is concerning me more and more. It's become so prolific, that it's going to be extremely difficult to ever fix.

Having commuted through the Beltway Sniper season in WDC, all i can say is FUBAR.

Placing police officers in fogged up cruisers outside of schools was a show of farse.

2 wackos had the entire region in a state of panic, while they drove about in 1 vehicle staying at the YMCAs.

An organized cell with skills and several safe houses would herd the sheeple and be unstoppable.

"12monkey" wrenching of transportation systems could clog arteries for weeks. Create a panic around mass transportation and no one gets to work. In DC, people were running out of gas because they were afraid to fill up.

Having 3 cells that timed their exploits to impact 3 cities on an escalating schedule would rapidly get quite out of hand.

And the news media would promote it 24/7.
