Has anyone else noticed that we have been getting allot of new people here on THR lately. Not new to guns, but new to THR. I think it is great to have more people hanging out here. Every once in a while I see a comment or thread that makes me scratch my head, but in the end the more people we have here the better THR will be.

Oh and you can't beat how some of the dead horses come back to get beat some more.

One of my favorite is "what is the best gun for CCW"

Note to anyone new to THR. There is a really great search function that will allow you to search everything ever posted here. Try that first, if you don't find anything by all means post a new thread.

What is your favorite dead horse??

PS: Probably people posting about newbies and dead horses.:D

Hey Hey I'm a THR newbie and have one of those "Best" threads going right now:D

But I usually have some small question that hasn't been adressed or I can't find in a search to make mine different:D

these are just some rifle country beaters, i'm sure their are like 30 more elsewhere.

If you could pick ONE rifle...
Best 7.62x54R, and a couple other ??
Which Battle Rifle

Welcome all

There are a lot of new folks that have been lurking for a while and finally got up the gumption to ask a question or post a comment. See we don't bite, nibble occasionally but not bite!

There have been a few, Euro-Trash versions and the domestic variety as well, that felt their job was to disrupt the threads and explain to everyone that the only thing that mattered to the world was politics, America is inherently evil and selfish and understanding that the "Bushco cabal" was out to ruin our lives daily.

I think they were stunned to find Liberals and Progressives here that believed in the 2nd every bit as firmly as their more conservative bretheren.

They are welcome too and maybe its just my overactive imagination but I've actually seen some of the hard core "cut and paste as if it were fact from liberal websites" crowd actually start to open up to the idea that gun owners aren't all knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, racists.

So welcome one and all! The only unforgivable sin here is not participating and being rude to your fellow man.

I've been lurking for several months since I was given the link by a member of www.dieseltruckresource.com.

I'd like to commend the folks running this site for putting together and running a super forum for all the members here to enjoy and a great place to gain knowledge on a variety of subjects.
I learn something new every time I come here. :D

*Shovelhead*

Oh and you can't beat how some of the dead horses come back to get beat some more.

You mean like "What High Point is best for bears?" :D
All kidding aside, the only stupid question is the one not asked.

The Beta A9 search engine gives this site a frequency rating of 67,548 . This is pretty good considering a lot gun related sites run anywhere from the high 200,000 and into the millions.

http://www.a9.com/

NRAILA=69,340
Outdoors Best (Guns and Ammo) 36,392
Smith-Wessonforum 1,069,375
Glock Talk 60,384
Sixgunner.com 174,008
gunzone 279,445

maybe I used the wrong words. Like the sites with lower numbers get hit more frequently than those with higher numbers. It appears to be a ranking.

I'm certainly indebted to fulloflead for directing me to this board. I'd been searching for a decent gun-related message board for years. THR is the best, bar none.

mec,
Ok, I get what you're saying. A ranking. I thought it was some technical website performance term or something. :)

just a bit of lexicographical obsurantism to confuse myself and others.

You know my brother-in-law runs a website development business. He also own another company that is the nations top company to go to for website ranking. I asked him what that entails and he said basically websites fight for top position on search engines like yahoo and google. Like if you do a search on yahoo for golf and all of the results pop up he is the one that gets sites those top spots on the first page. He said there is a number of ways to do this like sponsorship (a yahoo thing) or what people really pay him the big bucks for is that he know how google's meta crawler program works as far as finding websites. By knowing this he can actually manipulate the text in a site so that the crawler program will find more relevant keywords. I am going to see him in mid May and I was going to talk to him about doing some favors for me when it comes to RKBA sites. With his help we can get some of our better pro sites up first and knock the anti's as far down the list we can. Like when you do a search on gun safety the #1 is the NRA but disturbingly #2 is a parenting anti website and #3 is a confusing one www.americansforgunsafety.com but this site seems to have anti sediments as well. I am not sure of that Americans for gun safety organization as doing some quick reading on their site they appear to actually be anti. Maybe some of you can post your thoughts on that site.

Crewchief; the antigunners are trying to steal the term "gun safety".

"Gun control" is too negative, so they are trying to claim the "gun safety" label to con uninformed gun owners. Hence, "Americans for Gun Safety".

A clue (which you undoubtedly noticed); If Mrs Bill Clinton is involved, it can't be good. :uhoh: :scrutiny:
