Thanks for any info.

That number isn't the model number. Most like a serial number.
You'll need to provide more info. A picture would help.

A better description or picture would help, but I'll take a shot at it.

If the number 341625 is on the bottom of the butt it's the serial number. The same number should be on the rear face of the cylinder, and the bottom of the barrel above the ejector rod. You may also find the number written in pencil on the inside of the grips.

If all of this proves to be correct, you have a .38 Smith & Wesson 1905 Hand Ejector, (Military & Police model) 4th Chg. These were made between 1915 and 1942, within a serial number range running from 241,704 to 999,999. Your gun probably dates from the early 1920's. At that time standard barrel lengths were 4, 5 and 6 inches. Standard finishes were blue or nickel plate. Cylinder capacity was 6 rounds. The stocks should be plain walnut, but checkered - with a diamond around the screw.

I think what Tracie said was "38 Special model.... #341625" and not "38 Special.... Model 341625."

Tracie- This is where the serial is on a S&W revolver and it may or may not have a letter prefix as part of the number.

This is a Military & Police 38 Special made 1915-1945 (this one has a 5" barrel but 4" and 6" are also common). Does it look like this one?
