Does anyone know anything about the Virginia Dragoon sigle action revolver. I have inherited one, stainless steel 5.5 inch barrel in 44 mag. Im not finding a lot of information online about them and I am looking for a set of replacement grips for it. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

Long out of production, originally made in Switzerland & imported by Interarms, then made in the US for Interarms.
Basically good guns. Mine had a sight regulation problem & the grips tended to wander under heavy .44 Mag recoil.
I'm not aware of any maker that currently does grips for the Dragoons, you might check with Numrich to see if they have any sitting around on the shelf. Otherwise start making the rounds of gripmakers on the Internet & see if anybody's willing to make you a set.
Good luck.

Thank You Sir for the reply. The timing on this gun is very good, solid lock up on all chambers and no endshake. It has been sitting in the box for about 10 years. The grips that are on it now are of a blond wood that doesnt look very good with the brushed stainless finish. They are solid on the gun but not pleasing to the eye. I will check around.

The original fixed sight version, called the Virginian, was made in Switzerland by Hammerli. These were beautifully made revolvers, being offered in .357 Magnum and .45 Colt. Then a year after their introduction, Interarms opened their own plant in Virginia and began making a larger frame version of it, so as to handle the increaed pressures of the .44 Magnum cartridge. It was produced in both a blued finish with color case hardening, and an all stainless version, with the option of fixed sights or adjustable target sights. Barrel lengths in the .44 magnum model were: 6", 7 1/2", or 8 3/8".

I think Eagle makes grips for them and so did Pachmayr at one time. Here is a great info link courtesy of Mr. Lee Martin.

If your current grips are wood, then consider a light sanding and then follow with a darker stain/finish of your choice. Seems it would be the easiest/cheapest route.
