I did a search and can't find the information that was once posted either on TFL or THR. What I'm trying to research is some info on a grandad and his military service.

IIRC someone posted links and the how to involved. Mom was sorting out some family photos and correspondence and her daddy served, but she and her sis ( only kids surviving now) have no idea, never talked about and well, she and my aunt are curious. We think we need run this down so we sibs and grandkids will know.

I figured others might be interested as well researching folks as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,
You can get a copy of the service record from the National Personnel Records Center, 9700 Page Bvld, St. Louis, MO. Send them a written request detainling your relationship to the service member, his approx dates of service, service or SSN if known and be prepared to wait. Some people have faster serveice through their congresscritter's legislative services people.

Once you get that, you can reseach unit history etc.

HTH

Jeff

PS a large number of records we destroyed in the fire in the early 70s. I don't recall what years were lost though.
