Hey everyone.

My brother in law bought a shotgun (not sure from what sort of source but probably private sale). Haven’t been able to find much info on it.

It’s in pretty poor condition, but you can make out Universal “Doublewing” 2018 12ga stamped on the rib. Left barrel stamp says made in Spain, and right barrel stamp says Universal Firearms Corp, Hialeah, FL.

Serial number (stamped in the frame under the left barrel when you open it up) is 43xxx. There are a couple of additional proof marks (the word BEST to the left of the pictured ‘1276’) next to the serial number. The fourth picture with the MO (or MC?) proof mark was found under the foregrip.

Would appreciate any info y’all might be able to provide. Pretty interesting piece. Just curious, really.

Many, many cheap doubles were imported from Spain in the fifties through about '68. Some were better than others. Many names, many branded with retail store names. I.E. Sears, Wards, etc.
Some better than others. Italian doubles were better. Not much collector value but if tight, would be a rough and ready hunting gun or loaner.

Could also be a candidate for "restoration" (preservation would be a better word) as a fun project. See Mark Novak's YouTube channel (Anvil) for how he boils the metal (really! in tap water!) to turn that cruft on the tubes, back into bluing.
