Can anyone tell me anything about a Choate rifle barrel it is a mediumish contour barrel on a 1903 springfield action. we think the gun may be 30 or more years old??

Given that possibility, it might be wise to do a chamber cast, to see if it even is .25-06.PS: It is also possible it is a "25-06 Choate" wildcat cambering?
People did a lot of that back then just to have their name on something a little different.
It would be wise to have the headspace checked before shooting standard commercial 25-06 ammo in it.
