A colleague of mine brought his inherited rifle and shotgun collection into work the other day for me to take a look at.

His dad's deer rifle was a Remington 760 in 35 Remington, and the magazine was missing in action. The gun hardly seemed to have been shot and could almost have passed for new. He didn't have the owner's manual and it seemed to me that the slide could use some grease, he didn't even know the takedown procedures but had made a good job of cleaning out the bore.

Most people seem to get these guns in .30-06, 35 Rem seems to be something of a more unusual caliber.

I have found some mags for sale in 35 Whelan, but 35 Rem is difficult to find. Does anyone know if the 35 Rem magazine was specific to that cartridge only, or was the same magazine used for several similar calibers (such as the 35 Whelan).

Any info appreciated.
