I received my new trigger in the mail today, and thought I would share my initial impressions. What I didn't want was a 3 lb glass rod trigger in what is my HD rifle. But even after >1000 pulls, the stock trigger still had noticeable creep and a bit more grittiness that I cared for. Perhaps with a few thousand more rounds thru it the grit would have gone away. Or maybe not. But at current component prices, it was much cheaper to buy the ACT than to burn that much ammo.

The ACT install took about 20 minutes, from opening the case to pulling it for the first time. I was very pleasantly surprised. Pull weight is guesstimated at about 6 lbs, and while there is some small amount of creep you have to really work at feeling it. With .060" sear engagement, some creep is inevitable. But it is the smoothest creep you could ever ask for. And it has a positive reset that leaves no doubt in your mind when it happens.

So basically, it is just what they advertise it as...A mil-spec trigger that doesn't suck. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Was the improvement worth $65? After running a couple of hundred rounds thru it this afternoon to test function, I think so.

I'm really happy with mine too. My gunsmith said it was the best trigger anywhere near it's price. I had him measure my before/ after pull weights. Stock trigger in my M&P15 Sport was 7.5 lbs, with some creep and I thought it felt pretty gritty. Now it's 5.5 lbs, no creep or grit and a very crisp break.

I really like the ACT in mine too, clean pull and break every time. It's not a competition or target trigger, it's a duty rifle trigger that's been cleaned up significantly and still reliably ignite hard nato primers.

I thought about trying the QMS in my other AR, but what I've read about the QMS is it's just a standard trigger that's been polished, but the pull can vary from 5.5 to 7.5 lbs. The ACT is polished, coated, and the springs have been matched to the trigger set to provide a consistent 5.5 lbs. For the extra $20 over the QMS I think it's worth it.

I have 2 QMS and one ACT. The QMS triggers are better than what comes in the typical AR for sure. The ACT is better than the QMS, as it should be. In a defensive type rifle it's all I need. The rifles are capable of 2-3" groups off a sandbag with these triggers and irons or red dot.
