Some new toys and ammo arrived Friday so a buddy and I made time for some "playing" late yesterday. We both got acquainted with the new compact via some stand-up shooting before chronographing each of the following 10mm loads with 5-shot strings of Double Tap.

135 grain JHP: 1,481 fps

165 grain Gold Dot: 1,302 fps

180 grain Golden Sabre: 1,247 fps

200 grain XTP: 1,137 fps

220 grain cast: 1,028 fps

Accuracy with all of the loads was quite acceptable, with the 220 grainers actually producing the tightest group (altho admitedly it was shot last - after I'd got re-acclimated to the Glock trigger.)

Function-wise, all ran 100% reliably except the 180 grain Golden Sabres, where the very last round in the magazine failed to feed each time ...

A .40 S&W barrel for the 29 is supposed to be on the way from Bar-Sto. Hopefully it will be in for us to do some more "playing" next weekend with Buddy's 180 grain FMJ handloads. (He shoots a .40 Sig with a barrel only about 1/8" longer than the 29.) We've got buckets of .40 brass to reload - and obviously gonna be workin' on building up a supply of 10mm. :D

I guess this thread is a little old, but I'm going to give it a bump.

I'm looking into a 10mm for carry, and basically at this point it is between a G29 and 1076. It seems that the Glock 10s in general are quite ammo-sensitive. Why is this the case? Is this normal?

Would the G29 or 1076 be better for carry, and why in your opinion?

Get the G-29! It is smaller and lighter. You wont lose any significant velocity from the shorter bbl. At 1200 FPS or more the 180 gr. bullet will expand unless it gets clogged. Most 180 gr. bullets are designed for .40 S&W speeds which are around 950 fps.

I've owned a few G29s...they are pretty impressive little handcannons. Size for horsepower, they are the most powerful handguns available on the market. If they have a flaw, it's the one they share with the G30. They are wide enough to paint a landing strip on top of the slide and make an instant aircraft carrier out of it. As IWB guns, they are not all that great, and some folks may not be able to get their hands around the grip.

Other than that, they are great guns. They work fine, hold lots of bullets, and hold up well. I've never seen one that was ammo-sensitive...my G29s always fed what I gave them.
