Used my new chronograph for the first time this weekend. It was my first time ever using a chronograph. I tested three loads on two different guns. All three were used attaching the bayonet to a suppressor.

  • Attaching the bayonet is not tough but takes a little getting used to
  • In my mind I wanted to attach it to the 6 o'clock position but in reality it can be attached any position that doesn't interfere with line of sight
  • Definitely saw a point of impact shift 1" up while grouping seemed to be unaffected
  • I liked the data view and instant data feedback on the screen although I assume this is the same with most chronographs
Looking forward to using this more and getting used to it. Will enjoy more data on my reloads and more understanding of the trajectories of the bullets I'm shooting.

They have a following and even ways to use them with some pistols these days.

Other devices vary on what they tell you, some print, some can even build you trajectory data, windage, maximum point blank ranges, from bullet library’s built into them, calculate PF or energy, Bluetooth download of data into spread sheets, the list goes on.

The one at use the most is the cheapest one I own, so it’s always handy. It’s fairly “meat and potatoes” it’s just velocity of each, high, low, average, ES and SD.
