I know about the few problems with the new Glock gen4 17 do to the dual recoil spring but I was wondering if it was a problem with the model 26? I'm looking for a night stand / carry pistol. I like the G26 but I know it has the dual spring and I'm worried I could have the same problems that the gen 4 17 has had. So I ask anyone who owns a G26 if this is a good gun or should I look elsewhere?

I carry a G26 on a regular basis. I also carry a G19, but the G26 is a bit shorter and easier to conceal. Wonderful shooter too.

I love all my Glocks, and I have never heard of an issue with the dual springs on a G26. My runs "perfectly"! The Gen 4 issues are that, Gen 4 issues. Don't fear the G26!

I've owned Hi Powers; HK P7 M8; Berettas; 1911 45ACP; and a few other pistols. I like them all just fine, no better than fine I really do love a fine firearm.

I feel that the best choice for anyone is, to try if possible those they are considering, before making a purchase. Any quality firearm is bound to provide a person with reliability and good service provided the person does their share. That is, know the firearm; use the firearm (that helps you know it of course) get accustomed to using it so it becomes second nature. If you do that with whichever firearm you find best suits you, chances are it will serve you well.

I really like the feel, fit and accuracy of a Glock 19. Trim pistol, can handle ANY 9MM loads out there be they +P; +P+ or whatever. The 19 eats them up! Plus the Glocks in general are so easy to detail strip and remove & replace EVERY component in no time flat with one basic tool that costs under 10 bucks. I can't say that about the HK P7 M8 but then again comparing the two is like comparing apples to boulders!

So go to a firearms dealer and look, feel, touch, hold and basically handle any that appeal to you. If you have a range where you can rent the one you like, do so. Shoot them and ask questions.

Then when you find one or when that special one finds you, like a puppy at the pound that catches you pants cuff and wont let go, then that's the one.

Best of luck brother and keep in mind unlike wives, there's no law saying you can only have one pistol. Well no law yet that is.

I was wondering about the 26 vs the 19.

I know they have magazines that make the grip on the 26 very similar to the grip on the 19. Do any of you guys have any experiences with those?

I'm trying to make my mind up. I'm leaning toward the 26 because you can make it bigger, but you can't make the 19 any smaller. Thoughts?

Go to the range and rent them both.

Fire away. Which feels best?

That's the one.

I faced the same decision last spring between the 26 and 19. I carry every day so for me the decision was made based on that. Winner=26. Most folks report the 26 is generally more accurate too due to the thicker than normal porportional slide to barrel length ratio. Not sure if thats true, but I hear the same for the Glock 30 as its often mentioned the most accurate Glock made. I can say my G30 almost matchs my Sig P220 in accuracy. That says alot.

The 26 is an excellent pistol and the recoil spring has not been troublesome. Don't forget that the 27, 29, 30, 33, 36 and 39 all use the dual spring arrangement. It is nothing new. You have nothing to fear in the 26. It is one of the most solid and reliable 9mm pistols there is.

The real surprise is that the new Gen 4 dual springs have had some problems. I believe they have it sorted out now. Besides, Glock has a sterling reputation when it comes to servicing their products.

The G26 has been out for... fifteen years? With that spring. Its not a problem. I have two of them. Great pistol and its my carry gun.

love my g26. i'd like a 19 too though.

I'm not sure about the gen4's, if they made the same problematic changes as with the 17/19 on the 26. personally i would stick with a gen3 for now

If a sub-compact 9mm is what you are looking for, you can't do better than a G26. They run like a top. Just remember to shoot FULL POWER ammo, like NATO or +P for SD and not cheap bulk-pack or standard velocity HPs. Glocks are designed to run with the hot stuff.

I don't think the Gen 4s are out until next year. Buy a new or used 3rd generation now rather than wait on a Gen 4.

I have a couple of G26's. One is 10 years old and has been used to fire more than 10,000 rounds of assorted ammunition over the years (issued 147gr JHP, 124gr +P GS and 127gr +P+ T-Series as issued loads, as well as an assortment of other standard pressure, +P & +P+ rounds for training & practice). It's received normal maintenance and periodic parts replacement of wearable parts. It's never failed to feed, fire, extract & eject a single round. (I can't say the same for my G27.)

My second G26 is a brand new OD model produced a couple of months ago. It's had slightly less than 200 rounds fired through it thus far, but it's been fine and I expect it to provide the same service I've received from my other G26.

The G26 is not my "favorite" small 9mm pistol, but it is my favorite Glock from among their model line. I've handled and fired most of them over the years, and I also own a G27 which has seen more than 10,000 rounds fired through it, as well. If I had to choose between the G26 & G27, I'd choose the G26, no question ... but that's me, and I'm sure other folks will feel differently. Different strokes. ;)

I'm an armorer for Glock, as well as for a number of other firearms commonly seen in LE/Gov service, and I have complete confidence in the G26 to optimally function as intended when good quality factory ammunition is used by a shooter who uses good grip technique/shooting skills and maintains the gun as recommended by Glock (meaning proper cleaning & lubrication).

Just my thoughts.

The double spring in the G 26 as in any of the other GLOCKS that have that type of spring has never been an isuue and I am really surprised about the comments on the problems experienced by some G 19's, Gen 4. Either true or false, I think that GLOCK Inc. should give us an explanation.

Love my G26 and is my concealed carry piece with ten round mags with GAP floorplates. It gets a G19 magazine for for woods /nightstand duty. Has never skipped a beat.

When I get a 22lr conversion kit I will have to make an effort to still shoot my other pistols.
