My wife carries a Ruger LCR .38 special. She has decided she wants a laser added to it. Any products I should look at other than Crimson Trace? Any pluses or minuses to lasers and CT in particular would be helpful in her making a choice. Thanks.

well the LCR doesnt have a rail......so CT is really your only option if you want a laser.

Lasers are a good addition. My wife wanted one way back when they were pretty new. They bolted to th trigger back then.

They worked well but one thing it did bring up is the need to continue practicing with iron sights. I know some folks who have begun to rely on them and ignore the irons. Bad idea as Murphy is always around

I recommend the CT; red or green, your choice. A laser is definitely a good addition to a CCW or HD gun.

Good point, jeepnik. Keep training with those iron sights, Mrs. critter.

Green is easier to see in brighter ambient light. A downside is that you need to practice with the sights and laser, IMO.
When I was running a grip mounted laser on a J frame, my off the trigger index finger blocked the beam. I envisaged it making a good reference point for a SHTF foe in subdued lighting.

Lasers are great if you're in a compromised position. If you've fallen down or have to shoot left handed or any other odd scenario.
When practicing, you spend too much time chasing the dot. I think you're better off practicing with iron sights.
That being said, I do have the LaserMax guide rod sight in my Springfield XD 45. It works well but, I never use it.

Crimson Trace is probably as good a name as can be found for a laser mounted to a revolver. Trigger guard options tend not to hold zero as well.
