Can someone recommend a source of a large quantity (50K count) of linked ammunition (.50cal, 7.62x51) for (legal!) CONUS located, DoD contractor training purposes?

The big manufacturers are backordered (ATK, Olin etc.) and the one offshore company (IMI etc.) which I have checked is charging a hefty premium. My limited research thus far indicates that importing into the U.S. can be problemmatic. That said, if a Central American armory deals in quantities that size, it might make sense.

Thank you, in advance, to any helpful responders.

Dont you need a permit and aproval from BATF or FBI for something like this? At least an importation liscence would be a good idea as thats goign to be an entire shipping container.

Contact any of the "big" ammo dealers out there directly...Aimsurplus, Ammoman...etc. It won't be worth the hassle or time to try to get set up to import it yourself.

I doubt that they will jump through any major hoops or issue a discount for an order of only 50k...maybe on the .50 but not on the 7.62x51.

Thank you! I have inquiries in, via email, to the usual suspects, and a cpl more that specialize in Class III arms and supplies. This would be an up and up transaction, completely transperent to all the powers that be.

I am not an importer, but if there is a substantial cost and availability delta compared to domestic production, the juice would be worth the squeeze. 50K rounds would be a quarterly amount.

We already have storage, internal domestic logistics and so forth laid on. It's sourcing the ammunition, reliably, that is the kicker. I wonder if the Korean make their own ammo.
