They should be over 2/3 wool (66%), and merino is best. The silk ones should be at least 50% silk. 100% is better, but spendy. OTOH, you only need one pair.

I use pure silk socks that I bought at Cabela's. The wool socks I use are Alpaca wool, 100%, I think I got them at a ski shop several years ago. They are the warmest wool socks out there.

I got my feet frostbite in Germany in the 1970’s so I have had a hard time keeping my feet warm. My wife got me a pair of Muck Artic Sport boots 5 years ago and I have worn them every deer season since. They are the only boots I have ever owned (including bunny boots which made my feet sweat) that have kept my feet warm.
