I will happily test the barrel tuner in 10/22 factory barrel and 20" fluted .223 Wylde barrel to see if it improves accuracy.

I actually considered the $9 barrel tuner when I was doing the "Accurizing 22LR on the cheap" thread but realized the tuner won't be much help when I was doing 30+ brands/weights of ammunition (Now testing 47 brands/weights/lots of ammunition between rainy days working on rainy day shooting setup).

Now that I have settled with Aguila 40 gr LRN/CPRN as being the most consistent "cheap" bulk 22LR to produce 3/4"-1" groups at 50 yards, I may consider trying the barrel tuner to see if I could reduce the group size smaller than 3/4".

Too ugly for me. I did make a bloop tube looking device from aluminum tube, turned to fit closely on the barrel of an early Savage MK II FV 22 and held in place by 8 nylon screws. I made various weights from aluminum and brass that fit closely on the tube and used 4 more nylon screws to hold it in position. I wouldn't call it attractive but better looking than the one in the OP. I managed to get very slightly better groups by burning up a lot of ammo. Although I did enjoy building and testing the thing I decided it was not worth it's use and it has resided in some box in my garage for years. If you want a tuner buy one of the proven micrometer types is my recommendation or just purchase more expensive ammo with a reputation for excellent accuracy.

On my BMW boxer I replaced the handlebar end weights from Alunimum to steel. Lowered the vibrations felt. Very noticeable. On mini 14’s, the barrel braces seem to assist with accuracy. Same concepts I would guess.

After playing with an EC V2 Tuner, I'm convinced of the value.

This is just tuning for TAC22 out of my B14R:

What I’ve observed is adjusting the tuner changes the shape of your group. I’ve gotten comfortable enough with mine to make a mid match adjustment if I see more vertical variation creeping into my shots. I just have to be sure it’s not the wind conditions causing it. Knowing when NOT to make an adjustment is just as important.

The last match I shot had one of those situations where I was getting more vertical shot dispersion. Here’s the target



Shot #2 almost leaked out the bottom but I managed to shoot clean. I contemplated making a tuner adjustment but the root cause was a fishtailing headwind so I left it alone.

The last match of that weekend had a tricky left to right wind. A lot less vertical variation due to the wind conditions pushing shots right. Again, no reason to make an adjustment. I dropped one shot here but would have dropped more if there was more vertical variation (I.e. the fattest part of a circle being its diameter)
